What is ANARRA

The Australian Native Animals Rescue and Rehabilitation Association (ANARRA) group was formed in the early 1990’s in response to the growing need for rescuers and carers for injured, orphaned and sick wildlife in the Gympie and Wide Bay region.

With a growing population and ramped up clearing for development, wildlife is increasingly coming to grief through loss of habitat, vehicle strikes, attacks by domestic animals and disease.

our mission

To Rescue, Rehabilitate And Release Sick, Injured Or Orphaned Native Wildlife In The Gympie/Wide Bay Region.

ANARRA is a not for profit association which operates throughout the Wide Bay Region in Queensland.

The group trains members to rescue and care for injured and orphaned native wildlife. Our volunteer members are educated and supported in best practice wildlife care, rehabilitation and release techniques.

All ANARRA Wildlife Carers operate under a permit issued by the Qld Department of Environment and Science.

ANARRA undertakes community awareness activities to educate the wider community about everyday actions that improve the health of wildlife in our region including responsible pet ownership, use of wildlife friendly fencing, rehabilitating wildlife habitat and slowing down when driving particularly from dusk until dawn.

The association currently has a number of experienced members who care for wildlife in their own homes, including one carer with several enclosures for larger macropods.  All carers have housing, cages or enclosures for the wildlife in their care, plus medical supplies, food and the equipment needed for each species cared for.  ANARRA Carers are covered under a Rehabilitation Permit issued by the Department of Environment and Science.
